Children's Clothes Drive Results--Christmas 2014
On Dec 24th and 25th we traveled to isolated villages located high in the Peruvian Mountains, to surprise children with Christmas gifts and lots of clothes that they would never have otherwise gotten. We also gave away 500 gifts, about 270 articles of children clothing and 30 traditional Peruvian fruit cakes to families most in need.
All of the children's clothing was U.S. donated and transported to from Texas to Peru. Interestingly, we paid about $250 in air transportation costs and an unanticipated import tax fee of $250. The total Christmas project cost, however, still averaged about $3.60 per child, including the 500 gifts, transportation and import tax fee, the 30 Peruvian fruit cakes, etc.
