All Girls housing program - high schoolers
El Hogar de Maria Reina is home to 24 girls and young women, ages 11 to 16, from "el campo" or very rural mountain villages , who -- without the housing program -- would be unable to attend secondary school. After getting to know the girls and determining some of their needs during an initial visit, Mission McNeill took them shopping the next day.
Each of the 24 girls picked out a pair of shoes/sneakers, in a style of their liking. Additionally, the younger girls received socks and underwear, while the older girls purchased school supplies. Five of the needier girls in the group also received hygiene packs with toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap, shampoo and deodorant.
The total project cost was $400.
